During the last week, the COVID-19 outbreak has worsened in numerous regions and countries, thus, testing not only Europe but also the world. Currently, there are over 118,000 cases worldwide, with 4,291 individuals having lost their lives.From those diagnosed, 18,042 cases are in Europe with slightly over 716 having succumbed to this virus.
As thousands more continue fighting for their lives, it is of utmost importance that the recommendation received from competent authorities are followed vigorously in order to contain the spread of COVID-19.
This pandemic is more than a public health crisis, but instead has affected multiple sectors. It is vital that we all play our part in order to overcome this. We cannot afford losing more time and lives.
Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures. As the citizens of the EU are facing this crisis, it is important that a European approach is taken. It is time to choose our health over funding disagreements.
YEPP calls for the EU to unitedly fight COVID-19. The European Commission must show strong political leadership, coordinate efforts with all Member States, as well as ensure that solidarity prevails during these turbulent times.
This is not a one-man job, but one that requires a collective effort.
