Statement from YEPP President Lidia Pereira on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict

Brussels, Belgium – In response to the clashes between Armenia and Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh, the President of the Youth of the People’s Party (YEPP) Lidia Pereira , made the following statement:

YEPP condemn these acts of violence and calls for peaceful and constructive dialogue to resolve the conflict between these neighbouring states. We must actively listen to ensure that no more lives are lost; we must protect human lives at all cost.

We urge the international community to assist in preventing any attempts to violate ceasefire. A peaceful solution must be reached to end this conflict and stabilize the situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. Any act facilitating hazardous changes must be avoided to hinder any attempts of destabilization.

The global community has actively called for both states to uphold the principles of diplomacy and maintain dialogue. It is crucial that in times of conflict and difficulty that the international community supports peacebuilding and provides help where needed.
