Fighting youth unemployment and ensuring generational justice.
The working group of EPP incorporated several proposals of YEPP in the congress document to be adopted in December in Marseille. Upon the proposal of the youth, EPP names the fight against youth unemployment among the main challenges Europe has to face in the coming years.
On the proposal of YEPP, the paragraph on economic governance now includes a part on justice between generations. According to the amended text, “more financial discipline would ensure that upcoming generations will not have to face unbearable financial burdens, therefore, it would strengthen justice between generations.”
YEPP also introduced an amendment regarding the paragraph on energy challenges, which the EPP working group adopted. According to the amended section, “beyond enhancing the use of renewable sources, a special emphasis must be paid to energy efficiency measures”.
The final text will be adopted by EPP congress delegates in Marseille, on 7-8 December.
